Giving birth is a living act of excellence. Its mystery brings us to experiment, research, and dive into a boundless ocean of discovery. People all over the world are supporting women and childbirth in this spirit of exploration, which at the Summit, shall bring us to encounter ancient and modern wisdom from diverse cultures. By recognizing and understanding birth cultures, we shall support the crux of humanity's rebirth into a new way of being. Conception, pregnancy and childbirth, with respect, are the right of every newborn, a real investment in the future. HOW THE SUMMIT WAS BORN During the past forty years, many people, associations and professionals have promoted an awareness about the importance of childbirth. Now, the time has come to integrate the richness of these diverse experiences through an International Coordinating Commission. This Commission shall be initiated and defined at the Summit on Birth, with the contributions of participants. OBJECTIVES OF THE SUMMIT * Gather experiences of childbirth from diverse cultures * Share perspectives from both science and popular traditions regarding birth * Form an International Commission to safeguard the diversity of knowledge around childbirth * Draft an International Ethical Charter for childbirth workers * Launch an Integrative Spiritual School on the Art of Childbirth * Create an internet portal that allows for communication and exchange in the international childbirth community WHO IS ORGANIZING THE SUMMIT The Summit is organized by the PerLa Donna Association (Farfalla Vitalba), with the assistance of the Association Sal-u-te (Orango Riso), in collaboration with the Federation of Damanhur, Italian Obstetrics Association for International Cultural Relations (AIORCE), and the National Coordination for Associations and Communities of Ethical Inner and Spiritual Research (CONACREIS Italy). WHAT'S HAPPENING The Summit has working sessions, work groups and workshops that have been organized to maximize communication and sharing amongst presenters, workshop leaders and participants.
